This week’s edition has been loaded with tons of surprises! For this week I will combine my thoughts on both episodes as I was a little busy with personal stuff.
This week revealed that the relationship between Habaek and So Ah reached greater heights Habaek kissed So Ah passionately. Whether is it an excuse that Habaek knows that he will be leaving soon or not we will get to see more romantic and sweet scenes on the upcoming weeks.
Geol Rin and CEO Hoo Ye know each other. It seems that Geol Rin has empathy on what happened to Hoo Ye (or can be seen as a father figure). But what I am curious is that he insinuated that Hoo Ye needs a servant more than Habaek. Is it because of all the hardships that Hoo Ye went through or is just another plot of the Minor Gods who wants to overthrow the Gods.
Speaking of Hoo Ye, it seems that he was controlling his dark powers for the longest time. In my opinion Hoo Ye is naturally a good guy, it was just unfortunate that he was cursed as a Half God who stuck on an endless cycle of reborn. With Bi-Ryeom’s actions so far, we might get to see what kind of power does he have and is it powerful enough to kill a God? This week also revealed that Hoo Ye likes So Ah (as he confessed to Habaek after he met up with her at a cafe) and he will do whatever it takes to win her heart.
Joo Dong has been found! Apparently he lost his memories and powers temporarily and wandered as a homeless person but eventually became a monk. Joo Dong can be seen as the God who is really on Habaek’s side knowing that both Moo Ra and Bi-Ryeom are scheming against him. Joo Dong clearly saw through Habaek as he was not happy that all the God stones were already gathered and ask Habaek if the reason was because of So Ah (should be a dead giveaway).
Habaek for the mean time learns how to earn money as he helped an old man pick up paper cartons to be sold to a recycling company wherein he was handed out his share of the sold cartons. The second one was taking his photos for a street seller in order to get a cute set of cups which he gave it to So Ah as a gift.
The question now is that how will the rivalry between Habaek and Hoo Ye go now that it was evident that they are now fighting for So Ah’s heart. When shall we see Hoo Ye’s dark powers? We will just have to wait until next week. Will Bi-Ryeom be the first victim? Who knows… Let’s all find out next week!
This story is all about CEO Hoo Ye for the majority of the episode as it was revealed that he is a Half-God that the High Priest was referring to (on my previous post, I mentioned that my guess was he was one of the Minor Gods, I guess I was wrong). And their element was indeed Fire (as seen on the previous episode). But this episode does have it’s share of showing off how cheesy Habaek and So-Ah can be.
For CEO Hoo Ye, at this point I feel pity for his character. From the start of the show he was seen as a CEO of a successful company who wants to give something back to everyone (especially for the blind girl, who is quite frankly the blind girl from the first episode also. Is this blind girl really a human? or part of the Realm of the Gods who sought refuge at the human world also?). He had a painful past in the Realm of the Gods that led him to being thrown out of that world. You can’t blame the guy, but thanks to that person who adopted him, He was able to live as a human properly. The question now is why does he have the mark of Joo Dong and the Land Kingdom? This leads to various theories, either he tells the truth that he hasn’t seen Joo Dong or he was the one responsible for Joo Dong’s disappearance that leads to a bigger and darker plot on seeking revenge at the Realm of the Gods.
We get to see a new love team in the form of Yeom Mi and Nam Soo Ri (yes, you read that right). Apparently Yeom Mi seems to have a crush on Nam Soo Ri after they bumped into each other a couple of episodes ago. Is this going to be like Sunny and Grim Reaper? I hope so 🙂
The one thing that is similar between Habaek and Kim Shin (Goblin) is that they are afraid of zombies! I think I would still go with Kim Shin in pulling off this scene as it was more naturally funny compared how Habaek pulled it off. Poor So-Ah as she has to cover her ears from Habaek’s helpless screams at the roller coaster.
What will happen to So-Ah if she already knew that Habaek will leave her someday? Is this the fate that she will have all along?. We will have to tune in to find out.
More questions have been answered on this episode. It tackles how the servant thing started and we get to know more about Bi-Ryeum and Moo Ra. We get to see more sweet moments from Habaek and So-Ah
So it was finally revealed that the God Stones were missing (well, Moora’s God Stone that is…) Thanks to a senseless fight between Moo Ra and Bi-Ryeum. What I am curious about is the other God “Joo-Dong” who went out to find Moo Ra’s God stone but went missing. My guess is that CEO Hu-Ye is Joo-Dong himself unless they would reserve that role for Kang Haneul who was announced that he will do a cameo for this drama. We get to see a side of Bi-Ryeum being jealous as he was reaching out his hand for help to Moo Ra but was ignored. In addition, Bi-Ryeum was far more vicious in treating servants 12,000 years ago.
Speaking of servants, It was revealed that the reason why So-Ah’s descendant is a servant was due to a woman was attacked and was thrown at the water. She was able to live a good life in the Water Country before becoming ill and worried about her blind father. She was allowed to go home but ended up falling in love with the king of her country and got married. This action was seen as a betrayal by the Gods after what they did for that woman. When So-Ah asked if the name of that woman was Shim Chung, Habaek gets more infuriated. I guess that Habaek fell in love with Shim Chung and felt betrayed when he found out that Shim Chung married the king from her country. It does make sense now when Moo Ra was first introduced in the series and how she told Habaek about the pain and suffering in the past.
Habaek’s character is changing when it comes to So-Ah. We get lesser comedic antics from Habaek yet he becomes more and more concerned for So-Ah.
The final scene shows that So-Ah was struck by a truck. Habaek was unable use his powers to save So-Ah this time. Was the High Priest from the Water Country correct when he mentioned that So-Ah will die before Habaek returns as the new emperor? We will have to wait until next week for the answers.
A huge step when it comes to story progression! We have some of our questions answered on this episode.
Habaek realizes that his powers only return when she saves So-Ah from danger. As it was revealed when he saved her again in a road accident caused by the mysterious man who was seen following So-Ah in the previous episode. Thanks to Habaek’s super human ability to learn quickly. He was able to prove his conclusion that the man is trying to put So-Ah in an accident. Thank goodness Nam Soo Ri survived the car crash, just leaving him charred all over.
The mystery of the assailant is now over as So-Ah can now focus on serving Habaek which demands for new clothes, a new phone an a 12 course dinner. Initially So-Ah failed to cook so they ended up eating Ramyun but thanks to a cooking show. They got to share a wonderful dinner. I think we can see the signs that Habaek now cares for So-Ah as he switched plates with her and offered her a slice of Apple (Sagwa in Korean means “Apple” and at the same time “Apologize”). I guess he’s becoming more concerned about his servant.
We finally get to know more about Bi-Ryeum. Apparently he was the one who gave So-Ah the ring (as a college friend who went to Rome). It was also revealed that Bi-ryeum gave 20 more of those rings to other people whose lives went really well. Since So-ah buried it at a park, that explains why she is getting these misfortunes.
We get the glimpse of how Bi-Ryeum has feelings for Moo Ra. He agreed once to Moo Ra to make Habaek jealous. In addition we saw a part of his personality wherein he will use any means to see what he wants to see, even up to the point of putting So-Ah in danger again.
The next question is… Where are the God Stones? Habaek seems to realize that both Bi-Ryeum and Moo Ra lost their God Stones. Who has it? Time will tell
Just when we thought that he had his powers back… apparently, we are wrong. For some reason he still cannot use his powers on this episode. I think it has something to do either with So-ah or with the conspiracy made by Moo Ra and Bi-Ryum. I am leaning towards to So-Ah as her wound was focused during the scene where she fell off the roof top.
Finally our helpless God has found a new home thanks to So-Ah. Well, not the type of house he was expecting but I think we will be seeing more antics at this house.
For some reason I am suspecting CEO Hu-Ye as the other God as can be visibly seen on his poor effort to pull out humor. Also there’s something about his personality that makes him the other God Habaek needs to find.
We get to glimpse Habaek who offered his services to Moo Ra by reporting negative comments towards her on the internet and acting as a body guard for a fan meet. It sucks that he got screwed by not giving the God Stones to him as Moo Ra doesn’t trust him as she knows that he lost his powers.
We didn’t get to know more about Bi-Ryum. He is just the God who is handing out advices to Moo Ra. Is Bi-Ryum showing his love interest towards Moo Ra? Or he is just an accomplice that has a common goal with her? I guess we will have to find out in the upcoming episode.
Finally the last scene was kinda sweet as So-Ah and Habaek travelled to a peaceful seaside. For some reason Habaek is apologizing to So-Ah. I guess a love confession is about to happen.
PS – I saw the scanlations of the original story. Will try to read it one at time so I can check the differences from the current Kdrama series.
