The Lonely and Great God: Goblin Episode 04

When we see something unusual from our morning newspaper, blame it to Kim Shin. His mood swings was reduced to being a modern bipolar syndrome. It’s kinda funny when it was outlined one by one. It’s also funny to see Deok-Hwa serving the bad news to him and for Kim Shin to see in disbelief.

Remember the kid that he helped out in Paris in the 60s? It turns out that he became a lawyer for the needy people. This scene really touched my heart as he explained that he helped a lot of people throughout his existence and yet very few made the choice to make their lives better after a miracle was handed out to them. These side stories really puts me in tears.

Deok-Hwa and Grim Reaper can really go along when they are watching their Morning Drama. their reaction when a revelation was revealed left me laughing for a while.

I’m warming to Eun-tak’s character, who’s always been likeable, but often hard to take seriously. But the more we see her through Kim Shin’s eyes, the more she becomes lovable and thoughtful, and her brightness in and of itself becomes something to admire. It’s almost too simple that the sunny character is the perfect foil for the gloomy one, but when we see just how much happiness she brings into his life, written all over his face like that, it’s hard not to think that there’s something special about the marriage of light and darkness.

The Lonely and Great God: Goblin Episode 03

Eun-tak sees the sword! It is quite odd why she didn’t tell Kim Shin that she can actually see it. (By the way, I tried editing my photo with a sword stuck to my body as well. turned out nice after all LOL)

It is safe to assume that this whole time, he’s had the sword stuck in his heart and the show just chose not to show it? It does quite feel odd if we see every scene that the sword is stuck through his chest.

We all know how care-free both Grim Reaper and Kim Shin can be, well there you have it. Deok-hwa now knows that the tenant is a Grim Reaper. I feel bad when Kim Shin said that he was a murderer before in his past life. It goes to show that even Grim Reapers have feelings as well and they might be sensitive about it.

We get to see the first encounter of Sunny and Grim Reaper. It felt really awkward, yet very funny at the same time. This leads to my next question: What is their connection to each other and why does the deity have in mind for those two to meet?

But far and away, I’m really loving the Reaper-Goblin duo, because no matter how much they bicker and say they hate each other, they’re clearly having a bond for each other, and it refreshing to see that both lonely souls have a friend (who is your rival also) who understands a bit of what it feels like to have a curse. I mean, sure Reaper would love to see our Goblin die, and Goblin says he hates a Reaper in every lifetime, but it took about two minutes after actually hurting his feelings to go and make up. Their tandem is really worth watching.

The Lonely and Great God: Goblin Episode 02

goblin02-01871In this episode we get to know more about the supporting characters in the series (Grim Reaper, Sunny, and Deok-Hwa).

We are seeing the nice view of Canada on this episode as for some reason, Eun-tak was able to follow Kim Shin to Canada just by following him through the door. There are more cute scenes of Kim Shin and Eun-tak.

We get to know the daily life of the mysterious Grim Reaper. He is respected by his peers and we were able to glimpse how the dead are being guided in the afterlife. His involvement in the series is yet to be seen. The rivalry between him and Kim Shin was really entertaining as we get to see the funny side of these two.

Deok-hwa grew up to be a mischievious nephew of Kim Shin, If I were to describe him as an object, it will be a credit card. Quite a punishment for a rich grandson of a successful man. The revelation of how he knew that Kim Shin was a goblin was quite intriguing. It shows that Kim Shin puts down his guard some times (thankfully not for much people).

And finally Sunny… The charming owner of the chicken restaurant where Eun-tak is now working. What’s her involvement in the series? You might be surprised once the plot is revealed. What’s with her character that she is paired with the Grim Reaper? We’ll find out soon.

That final scene was iconic (in my opinion). An unusual alliance came to save Eun-tak, but I’m so much more excited by the fact that goblin and reaper came together. This is the start of brotherhood and yet so many antics down the road. The underwear backstory is really funny, I really hope they made a backstory of it.
