Review
I really waited for this drama to come out and while it did not disappoint, it didn’t wow me either. While the story is the usual revenge drama, the whole drama felt very different from others – I don’t know if it was because of the way they shot the scenes, or because the episodic stories were different. The show tackled a lot of social issues, including transgenders and foreigners in Korea. I think this is not something the regular dramas feature in their stories so kudos to this show for highlighting something new.

To be honest, there were some parts that were boring, and I was a little disappointed with PSJ’s acting. he really acts well when he has to be emotional, when dealing with Jangga, fighting with the son, crying over his dead father, but the rest of the time, he had a blank look on his face that sometimes I wonder if it’s intentional – like he is just living day to day but not really ‘living’ his life. but he didn’t feel like his usual self. Secondly, his character is too straight laced and stubborn, to the point that sometimes I want to give up on him. The ending when he got down on his knees and begged, though i’m proud of him to do that, because that means he finally learned how to be a good person just like what his father taught him; I get that he got down on his knees to show that you do that to protect your family and loved ones, and there’s nothing shameful in going down on your knees for them, but I feel like the show only did that for Saeroyi to show that he loves Yiseo, which is different thing. But i’m still okay with this ending.

Yiseo started out as the cocky bratty kid who thinks she knows everything but I’m proud of Yiseo for growing to be a beautiful woman inside and out. She used to not care about other people and hurting their feelings, was too business minded and didn’t care about relationships but she changed a lot. and I think it’s because of Saeroyi. She loved him and wholeheartedly supported him, told him her feelings and waited for him without asking anything else in return.

Sooah, on the other hand, was too confident that Saeroyi loves her after so many years, that he will just rescue her once Jangga is gone and they will leave happily ever after. She didn’t do anything to maintain /protect Saeroyi’s love. Instead, she even worked for Jangga, his mortal enemy and did some dirty work for him too that was detrimental to Saeroyi. Did she honestly think that Saeroyi is stupid and blind enough not to realize that and fall for another person who did more for him?

Between the two of them, who should Saeroyi choose? I think Saeroyi made the right decision to choose Yiseo. It’s really not how long you waited for that person, but it’s who made you a better person, who stood up for you and supported you for better or worse and who will be there in the future. For those saying it was Soo ah who took down Jangga and not Saeroyi and he should love Sooah, I want to say that Soo ah did not do that for Saeroyi, she did that to pay back his father.

As for Jangga, this is one of the main thing I’m confused about. I don’t know why Jangga is too angry at Saeroyi. I mean he’s a little kid and you’re a grown man and yet he feels so powerful at lording over a guy who is way younger than him? I would be embarrassed for him, that he is fighting with someone not even his equal. Plus, how can he say that he is so great when all he has been doing are dirty tactics to get ahead with his company. He can’t even play fair and he’s happy when he wins? I think Jangga got to arrogant that’s why he fell big time. Just like Saeroyi, I also didn’t feel triumphant when Jangga got down on his knees and begged. I thought finally, this whole thing is over.

Also wanted to say that the last 3-4 episodes of itaewon Class felt like a different drama altogether. Suddenly we have kidnapping and showdown between the two guys, ugh, was disappointed how everything turned out, except for the last episode when everything became bright and happy again.

Lastly, Jang Geun Soo is probably the lamest bad guy in kdrama history. He looks like a kid trying to act tough he can’t hold a candle to Saeroyi.

Overall, this drama had a lot of interesting life lessons that we can all reflect on, but there were also some parts that were boring and didn’t make sense. Looking forward to PSJ’s new movie and drama (and please grow out that ugly chestnut hair!!)

Rating: 8.5/10

Review
I love this bromance! Kang Ha Neul is a cutie but how come he always plays the awkward guy? Seo Jun is his usual funny self. I thought this was going to be a light and fluffy movie, so didn’t expect that the kidnapping story quite heavy. I loved the mystery, the boys trying to find clues and the action of chasing the bad guys. They got beat up a lot but they of course solved the case. Cn they do a part 2 please?

Review
Because i just finished watching Revolutionary Love and attended Park Seo Jun’s fun meet that I decided to watch this drama. For the very first time in my 18 years of watching kdramas, I was torn between the main male lead and the male second lead. In fact, if my mind wasn’t hard wired to choose the main lead Sung Jun, i would have chosen Shin Hyun hands down. Sung Jun’s not bad — he is actually sweet and caring, but what really put me off was his really bad attitude at the start of the show. Seems like every time he feels pressure, he turns into a little monster and no matter how much nicer he treated Hye Jin when he fell in love with her, i will never forget how he made her feel so small and so humiliated in front of everyone when he thought she was just a loser. Seriously. How he treats his staff shows how much he treats people. I know, i should cut him a slack because everyone makes a mistake etc and he eventually apologized to her but Hye Jin should have told him off that he can’t treat people like that.Secondly, aside from that time when they were kids, i still dont know what they liked about each other as adults. I feel like it’s the nostalgia, more that anything that is keeping them connected and feeling in love. but it is a powerful feeling and i dont mind them ending up together.

Now Shin Hyuk, no matter how much a good catch he is and how much he also liked Hye Jin, i understand why he didn’t get the girl. he friendzoned himself, almost made fun of her and manipulated her, was always cracking jokes that when he finally is serious about her, Hye Jin didn’t believe him. and Hye Jin is really so stuck on Sung Jun, Shin Hyuk never had a chance except as a friend and older brother. I felt so bad for him — that time when he came running / rather driver in a motorcycle and got into an accident, and Sung Jin beat him to Hye Jin and he was limping all week without Hye Jin knowing what happened. and all those times he had to send her to Sung Jun while his heart his breaking.. and those 2 scenes that made me cry. One, when they had their date and he finally send goodbye to her and he was silently crying while driving back home, and when he met her one last time and hugged her. Aww.. i wish I can fly to wherever he went to in Europe and hug him back.

I love the friendship between Hye Jin and Hari. I didn’t feel angry at Hari – i could understand her, just like how Hye Jin understood her very well. She is starving for love and affection so you can’t blame her for liking Sung Jun because he was the only one who made her feel special even though it was really for Hye Jin. I actually thought that hari and Shin Hyuk were a fun pair — too bad they didn’t become a couple. I guess Shin Hyuk’s love for Hye Jin wouldn’t have been effective if he ended up with hari. and Shin Hyuk as Ten really seems like a loner and a private person.

Finally Hye Jin — i was delaying watching this because Hye Jin looked too “ugly” to watch. but as I watch her with her frizzy hair and red face and slowly changing to the sophisticated “Most” look, I realized how much i missed her old self. She was much more charming and real with her frizzy hair. Sometimes the actress was overacting a bit with her expressions but I eventually liked her and maybe that’s why guys like Sung Jun and Shin Hyuk are falling all over for her.

i recommended this drama to two of my friends and they loved it too!

Park Seo Jun for Bench

Still on a high from tonight’s funmeet with Park Seo Jun!

He was so game in answering all the questions, playing games, and indulging the fans. He is so shy and down to earth and so sweet. I can tell he was so shocked and overwhelmed by the amount of screaming fans tonight. I hope he comes back next year for a regular fan meeting.

Lots of things happened tonight and i love Sam Oh as the host (though i’m not sure how much she knows about him). First, he answered questions about himself ala slumbook style.

Then they showed his mindmap using his ow handwriting – life, friends, family, filipino fans, travel, health and Itaewon class.

10 fans had a chance to directly ask him a question.

The crowd played Pinoy Henyo with him and he only got one answer right! (I think he got mental block but he was so cute and teasing the crowd)

A couple of fans played Park Park Seo Jun (and he also participated)

3 fans had the chance to receive a gift from him – pillow, voice recording and selfie.

PSJ shared some thiughts on his instagram posts.

One super lucky fan had a phone call with PSJ in front of everyone

He gave 100 VIP fans signed posters. He happily hugged, talked, shake hands and received gifts from the fans. (It could have been me if i had just waken up early!!)

He gave away free Bench shirts to the crowd.

He also took pictures with Ben Chan before finally giving his last message.

It was a super fun night! I loved all of his reactions. Really charming fellow. I wish him more succesful projects and more fame!

Park Seo Jun fun meet

So i just saw this. Even without buying anything from Bench, i am willing to pay VIP to see PSJ. But now that i saw the totally unrealistic and crazy mechanics, i’m not sure if i can grab 10k worth of Bench items and pay within one hour. I mean seriously, do they want a stampede inside their store? Can i pay now, choose items later?

Any fan girls out there who can give the best strategy? Patron ticket is also not bad. But i want to see PSJ upclose! Esp since this fun meet probably would not have the usual perks like group photo or hitouch.

Note to even organizers can you bring him back next year for a proper fanmeeting?
